Arrival at Walton Hotel, Wellesbourne
We will arrive at our 4 star hotel this afternoon in the heart of Warwickshire where you can settle into your room after your cases have been transferred for you prior to dinner this evening.
We will make our way towards Gloucester today which has its roots stretching back to Roman times where you could wander around the magnificent medieval Cathedral where some of the Harry Potter movies were filmed, or the Gloucester Life Museum which is housed in two of the oldest buildings in the city one being a Tudor merchant’s house and the other a 17th century town house. There is also The House of the Tailor of Gloucester, a charming museum and quaint shop based on Beatrix Potter’s famous story which is also worth a visit and sure to bring back childhood memories.
Gloucester is well served for high street brands whilst The Cathedral Quarter is where you will find friendly and independent boutiques – perfect for gift shopping.
Sudeley Castle & the unique Cotswolds
This morning, we make our way to Sudeley Castle, the former home of King Henry VIII’s sixth and final wife, Katherine Parr, who is actually buried in the grounds. The Castle was also used as a refuge by King Charles I during the English Civil War. We will explore the beautiful interior and gardens of this stunning privately owned family property, set within the backdrop of the stunning Cotswolds. We can enjoy lunch in The Terrace Cafe, located within the Banqueting Hall of the castle before spending the afternoon exploring the picturesque Cotswold villages of Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold.
